Clinical Observation of Postoperative and Postanesthetic Death

Abstract
|
|
|
A total of 6046 anesthetics was administrated over three and half years period by a group of anesthesiologists in Han Kang Sacred Heart Hospital.
Of this total, 119 patients did not survive their surgical anesthetic experience.
The incidence of primary anesthetic death in surgery was 1:1,209.
The incidence of secondary or contributory anesthetic death was 1:378.
The primary fault of anesthesiologists was improper management of anesthetic and the secondary
fault was improper management in the immediate postoperative period.
